Popular Questions
Every wedding is unique. There is no one size fits all but this will give you an idea of where my priorities lie. My main aim is to capture the authentic realism and connections that you have with each other and with all the important people in your life. I do this discretely to get the most natural shots possible without expecting you to become a model. For location portraits and setup shots I like to do what I call posed candids so there is some direction while still keeping things light and fun.
All of the images on my site are from actual wedding days.
There are no styled shoots and there are no professional models.
3/4 ISH AUTHENTIC DOCUMENTARY.
It is up to you to plan your day but it’s good to keep me in the loop. I will ask you for a rough schedule closer to the wedding date. It’s important to leave some time in your schedule to mingle with your guests. I aim to document real moments as they happen and interrupt proceedings as little as possible. I will switch from being an invisible observer on the sidelines to immersing myself in the mayhem depending on the moment.
As I am mostly shooting the day as it unfolds, no single shot is guaranteed. You can of course tell me if there is a particular shot that you want (especially where formal or posed shots are concerned).
1/4 ISH CREATIVE PORTRAITS.
These can happen at any time of the day but location portraits are generally built into the timeline shortly after the ceremony.
In addition to the location portraits the top collection can include the option of an after dark session for some more intimate images. These will often be staged in a scenic location and may be specially lit but again, the emphasis is on getting natural looks as opposed to rigid poses. It can be a nice little time out after a hectic day. A sunset session may be possible depending on the time of year and your schedule.
Ideas:
I love doing these later in the day when the light gets interesting. Think big and factor in travel time.
Some clients prefer to focus purely on the Bride & Groom for these sessions if going on an adventure. Wedding parties are certainly welcome but you should allow some extra time (+30mins)
If you plan on doing an outdoor session then everyone involved should be prepared. Flat shoes and umbrellas for the girls are a common enough sight even in summer but if you get lucky with the weather you might need your sunglasses and SPF. Bridal party portraits will be a bit more staged than the rest of the day as groups need a little more guidance but as with the other portraits I will set the stage and then just some fun with it.
You should allocate 30-60 mins for an outdoor bridal party shoot and don’t forget to allow additional time for travel.
If you want family formals then you should allow at least 30 minutes for these. I will setup two main family shots and one with the bridal party. Additional shots will depend on the time available. The best time for this will be immediately after the ceremony but they can happen later with a bit of planning if needed. You will need to let your family members know that they will be needed for photos at a certain time and assign one family member on each side to gather people together.
When the people are gathered I will setup the shots with a little relaxed guidance but again I am not all that interested in rigid poses or traditional & lifeless arrangements.
Please note that if you are having formal shots made somewhere other than the ceremony or reception location then you should allow extra time for travel.
A non-refundable booking fee of £ / €200 is required to secure your date. This can be paid by Bank transfer, Credit Card or Paypal.
Booking is on a first come, first served basis so even if you’ve enquired about a date it doesn’t mean that it won’t be booked by someone else 5 minutes later.
If you’re keen to lock in a date, then you need to get the booking fee paid.
WHEN DO WE PAY?
In addition to the booking fee which will be paid straight away, the remaining amount will be invoiced 4 weeks before the wedding.
If you prefer to spread out the payments further in advance just let me know.
Bank transfers are preferred but I can also take Credit Card payments.
Please note that you won’t receive any finished products until all payments have been cleared.
CAN YOU FIX THINGS IN THE PHOTOS?
I spend around a week finessing your images so as to get the very best from them during the processing. My top collection includes 500 photos all of which will be processed to maintain a consistent look. I will occasionally remove an unwanted feature from a shot or fix someones eyes in a family or group formal but such things will be rare.
My aim is to make you look your best in a natural way not to make you look plastic or fake.
I always shoot with an end look in mind, for example, I might process some of the morning preparations as black and white film stock that is more suited to certain lighting conditions. Each shot is unique and I never deliver the same shot with two different processes applied.
HOW QUICKLY DO YOU DELIVER THE FINISHED PHOTOGRAPHS?
This varies depending on the time of year but it’s usually around 8 weeks in the height of summer. I will share some highlights within a week or two.
HOW ARE THE PHOTOGRAPHS DELIVERED?
You will receive a link to an online gallery from which you can download your images (at no cost to you). Anyone you share the link with can also order additional print products directly via a third party so please share it with your family and friends.
Your gallery will remain online for at least 3 months after the delivery date. (A USB backup can be ordered on request)
BOOKS & ALBUMS
Books are available as add-ons to any wedding collection and can be purchased up to six months after the wedding date.
The usual process is for the couple to provide me with a list of their favourite shots to be included (anywhere between 15 and 60 for a 30 page book). I will then mockup a design and you will get an opportunity to make a few tweaks. (Three sets of revisions maximum).
Books are supplied by a third party manufacturer and production takes up to two months from the time you sign off the digital design proofs.
A list of your selections must be forwarded to me within 6 months of the wedding date.
I offer album design and ordering as a free service to clients who choose album collections and I will handle payments on your behalf. Digital proofs must be signed off before the design is sent to the album manufacturer. After the design has been printed by the album company any changes will be entirely at your expense.
CAN BOOKS BE DELIVERED?
For couples living outside of my normal travel area (Northern Ireland) I can have your albums sent directly to you. Shipping costs start at £40 for a single 12″×12′′ book.
